This week, Amsterdam Police have arrested several people on drug charges for sales over the past four months. Armed with warrants, the APD was assisted by NYS Parole during raids early Friday morning.

Also part of the investigation: the NYS Police Community Narcotics Enforcement Team (CNET) and the Montgomery Co. District Attorney’s office.

Jan. 8: Terrance Cooke, 37, of Amsterdam is charged with criminal sale of a controlled substance (3rd Degree, Class-B felony) and arrested for cocaine sales.

Jan. 9: Joel Torres, 23, of Amsterdam is charged with criminal sale of a controlled substance (3rd Degree, Class-B felony) and arrested for cocaine sales; he was in possession of $696 cash that was seized, police said.

Jan. 10: Agustin Cepeda, 52, of Amsterdam is charged with criminal sale of a controlled substance (3rd Degree, Class-B felony) and arrested for cocaine sales.

Jan. 10: Juan Roman, 21, of Amsterdam is charged with criminal sale of a controlled substance (3rd Degree, Class-B felony) and arrested for cocaine and heroin sales.

Jan. 10: Israel Alicea, 37, of Amsterdam is charged with criminal sale of a controlled substance (3rd Degree, Class-B felony) and arrested for heroin sales.

Jan. 10: Wilfredo Dearce, 23, of Amsterdam is charged with criminal sale of a controlled substance (3rd Degree, Class-B felony) and arrested for heroin sales.

Jan. 9: Franklin Ramirez-Vega, 47, of Amsterdam is charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance (3rd Degree, Class-B felony) and arrested for being in possession of 70 individual plastic baggies containing crack cocaine, commonly referred to as “bumpies,” and an additional quantity of crack cocaine of over 3.5 grams, police said.

Police say they are still looking for three others on criminal possession of a controlled substance charges.

All defendants were arraigned in Amsterdam city court before Hon. Howard M. Aison and sent to the Montgomery County jail.
